January Newsletter 2017

Here at Straub’s we would like to wish each of you a Happy New Year, as we begin 2017. We look forward to serving your parts, service, and equipment requirements in the coming year. Please be on the lookout for spring parts specials that we will be announcing in the near future, that can assist you in getting your crop in the ground in the best way possible. This will help insure maximum yield potential in the fall. During these winter months, several members of the Straub management team are actively involved with Case IH, Great Plains, MacDon, and our Western Dealer Association meetings, training sessions, and advisory boards. These serve to continue educating ourselves in the agricultural equipment business, as well as provide our input into the needs of our customers, with our manufacturers. In closing, we encourage you to share this newsletter with other farming, ranching, or rural lifestyle families that you are friends with, and encourage them to sign up to receive our monthly publication. Our goal is to keep you fully informed of the happenings of Straub International and the manufacturers we represent.

Regards,
Straub’s

Straub International Announces Leadership Changes

Straub International is pleased to announce two beneficial changes to their management team. Randy Veatch recently accepted the role of senior vice president and chief operations officer for Straub’s, a leading agricultural equipment dealership.
Larry Straub, CEO, said Veatch’s 25 years of industry experience bring added depth to Straub’s executive team.

“He has extensive knowledge in the machinery businesses, as well as sales and management,” said Straub. “We’re looking forward to his contributions and guidance as we continue providing the best products and service to our clients.”

Veatch graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science degree in agricultural economics, and from Wichita State University in 2014 with a Master of Business Administration. He and his wife reside in Hutchinson and will continue to manage Straub’s Hutchinson location in addition to his new responsibilities.

Additionally, Dan Boswell has accepted the position of regional service manager for all of Straub’s five locations. Straub touted Boswell’s previous experience that he will bring to the team.
“Dan brings a unique perspective to our service department with his background in not only managing a service department, but also as a former successful small-business owner himself.”
Boswell was a service and parts manager in the construction equipment industry for eight years, and owned his own service-related business for 13 years. Beginning in the Burlington, Colorado area, Boswell has more than 34 years’ experience in the service industry.

He and his wife reside in Great Bend, and he also will continue to serve as service manager for that location in addition to his newly announced responsibilities.

Straub’s is a locally owned dealership with locations in Great Bend, Salina, Pratt, Wichita, and Hutchinson. The company proudly represents CASE IH, as well as other quality brands, including Mahindra, Polaris, Great Plains and Crustbuster.

A Recent Throwback Thursday Facebook Post

There is getting to be fewer and fewer of us out here that remember the old IH “proto-type” buildings that had the big pylon sticking up out of the front of the building. IH built a lot of these as company stores and then sold them out to dealers. Many of those independent dealers were IH employees, who had learned the business by moving their families around and taking different roles in the company, in order to learn all facets of the business.

Mahindra and K-State University

This fall, Mahindra North America signed an agreement with Kansas State University for K-State to coordinate testing of future product models in the central part of the U.S. As Mahindra searched for a university partner in this venture, they clearly saw K-State’s commitment to agricultural and to research. In the same regards, K-State was able to see Mahindra’s commitment to a rapidly growing presence in the U.S., with their extensive lineup of compact and utility tractors, along with implements to utilize with them. Here at Straub’s, we are extremely pleased to see a brand that we represent partner with K-State in such a manner, as it will only serve to provide our dealerships with better and better products down the road. In addition, we are excited that Straub’s Salina location has been chosen as the servicing dealer for this venture. This will allow our service technicians to gain valuable experience working with yet to be released product, so when new models are introduced into the marketplace, we will have a head start in understanding new systems, such as electrical or hydraulics, that could possibly be introduced with them.
