Our Titan/Goodyear representative called on us today and provided updated information on ag tires. We wanted to pass this along to you, in case you weren’t aware of this information.
The acronyms of ag tires
The majority of drive tires available on the Case IH Axial Flow Flagship Series combines (7240/8240/9240) are the IF/CFO tires, which are now required due to 400+ bushel grain tanks now being utilized. In fact an IF580/85R42 CFO Goodyear tire has 16,500 lbs maximum load rating, while a standard 620/70R42 Goodyear tire has 11,700 lbs maximum load rating. In the current Axial Flow price book, the 580 tire is only $886 list price higher than the 620, with the added benefit of narrower profile for row crop applications and 29% greater load carrying capability.
Also remember, if you are interested in a four-wheel drive tractor, that the Case IH Steiger line is capable of being fit with 480/95R50 tires, when some competitive brands cannot be. This tall, long footprint tire is excellent for both row crop and tillage operations. In fact, this tire has more footprint than a 710/70R42 tire, which has been a very popular tire for many years in this area. In addition, this tire will narrow up your total tractor width, making it easier to navigate ever increasingly busier roads.
